Alex Lau has established himself as a dynamic young cellist with an international career spanning Europe, the United States and Asia.  His teachers include Hsin-Hsin Chang, Laurent Perrin, Susanne Müller-Hornbach and Norbert Anger etc.  He is currently studying for a Bachelor's degree under the supervision of Wen-Sinn Yang at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts.  As a soloist and chamber musician, Lau has performed at prestigious venues such as the Victoria Hall (Geneva), the Berliner Philharmonie and Flagey (Brussels) etc.  He has also been invited to perform at various festivals including the Seiji Ozawa International Academy Switzerland, the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival in United States and the NUME Academy & Festival in Italy etc.  Lau's accolades include First Prize at the Beijing 'Ai Qin Cup' International Cello Competition (China), the Nouvelles Étoiles International Music Competition (France) and the Primuz International Strings Competition (Poland) etc.  In 2023, he was awarded The Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund Scholarship to further his studies in Europe.





An active choral musician in Hong Kong and currently the Music Director of SingFest. Dominic Lam has led the group in performing a wide range of repertoire by Bach, Buxtehude, Pergolesi, Brahms and David Lang in choral theatre setting. Under his choral direction, SingFest has performed Bach’s Markus-Passion (BWV 247) and St. John Passion in the form of choral theatre under the baton of Matthew Halls and Wolfgang Katschner in Hong Kong and Germany respectively. Dominic was a Part-time Lecturer of the Hong Kong Baptist University’s (HKBU) Music Department in 2017-2021, conducting the HKBU Choir. As a conductor-pianist of The Hong Kong Children’s Choir (HKCC) Senior Class, his notable projects with HKCC include leading contemporary opera Madame White Snake (2019) written by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Zhou Long, Les Chant des Enfants des Étoiles (2023) written by Unsuk Chin at Hong Kong Arts Festival; Aria (2020) at New Vision Arts Festival and appearing as guest singer in HKCC’s 50th anniversary original musical King of Singers (2021). He holds a Bachelor of Music from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Master of Music in Conducting from Westminster Choir College, USA.
